Surrogate Testing with Kinesiology

There are many reasons I love what I do.

As a Kinesiologist I have the privilege of meeting many wonderful people, some of whom have been suffering for years and come to me as a last resort !   (I have learned not to be offended by this….)   Obviously I get enormous satisfaction out of helping people back to health, wellness and wholeness, and none more so than those who potentially could be “difficult” to muscle test.

My own preferred working style is to test and balance clients while they are lying on a massage couch.  Although all muscles can be tested standing up, some more easily than others, in terms of treating someone, it is much more relaxing and beneficial for them to be lying down.

However, there are times when this is not possible or practical :

  • the elderly who cannot leave their chair without a great deal of help
  • the infirm or anyone suffering from an injury which prevents them getting on to the couch
  • the very young (including babies) who cannot yet understand the instructions to “hold” their muscle position
  • anyone who can get on the couch but not comfortably move in certain positions

Enter the marvels of surrogate testing..!

If I test an individual (person A) who is touching someone else (person B), effectively the muscle response being monitored is that of the person being touched (B), not the individual being tested (A).    If there is a chain of people, the response coming through is that of the last person in the chain.   As individuals we are acting as a magnet for the energy.   Anyone can be tested in this way and it works – I know it sounds weird and whacky but I have been told time and again by clients that their muscles feel different on resistance when they are touching someone else.

Furthermore if I were to rub the lymphatic points or hold neuro vascular points of the person being physically tested (A), provided contact is maintained with person B, then person B will get a proportion of the positive reaction (whilst person A gets a bit too .. ).  My preference with surrogate testing is, wherever possible, to test the surrogate, including foods, nutrition, bach flowers and water and then when it comes to actual treatment, do the lymphatic massage, neuro vascular points and emotional work with the client (person B).  If I can’t access lymphatic points due to them being in a hospital bed or their position in a wheelchair for example, I would do those on person A WHILE they were touching person B.

This is fantastic, because it means that kinesiology can be used on absolutely anyone – even animals.  I have tested in this way, babies for milk intolerance, treated colic, tested children and treated for learning difficulties, helped stiff necks, bad backs..the possibilities are endless.

Systematic Kinesiology is a way of identifying imbalance a person has by monitoring their ability to hold their muscles against light pressure.  Each muscle is related to an organ and also to an energy pathway called a meridian.  Together the muscle, organ and meridian form a “circuit”.  If there are any chemical, emotional, structural or energetic stresses affecting the circuit, the muscle tested will feel “spongy” indicating an imbalance.

Once the imbalance is found the Kinesiologist uses the muscle test again to get feedback from the person’s body about what factors are aggravating the imbalance and what will help to rebalance it.  Each time a relevant factor is introduced the muscle’s response changes, a bit like a switch.  So imagine a spongy muscle as being “off”; if the person then thinks of an emotional stress and the muscle is suddenly able to hold the pressure, ie it switches “on”, that indicates that particular stress is involved in that imbalance.  Similarly if a particular nutrient, when placed in the mouth causes the muscle to switch “on” we know it will be helpful.  The same process can be used to find related structural problems and energetic factors that are involved.

Based on this feedback the Kinesiologist and client can discover exactly what is involved in the imbalance and devise a wellness plan.  It may include nutritional supplements, various emotional stress release techniques, Bach Flower remedies, acupressure, gentle structural realignment, Chakra balancing, light touch, firm reflex massage, suggested lifestyle changes and more.  The exact treatment you receive depends on the feedback your body gives through the muscle test about what it needs to return to health.
